ConnectionString in the SqlExecute activity

Feb 23, 2012 at 9:28 AM

Hi and thanks for the great work on all this framework.

As you already know, you have to give SqlExecute a ConnectionString so that it can connect to a database. The ConnectionString is not an InArgument but a simple string. You cannot use a variable set in another place. Is there any reason why?

For my project I modified this activity so that it takes the connectionString as a parameter.

This is only 3 lines of code to change and commit.

I suggest that you think about making this little but useful modification! Because I do not see any reason to keep it as a string type. Otherwise, could you explain the choice?

Thanks a lot!

We have a workitem with a similar request: http://tfsbuildextensions.codeplex.com/workitem/9884

It will be fixed in the March release.
